  • How long does it take for a drawing to be completed?
Please check the top of the home page to see current wait list updates. When you make an order, you will be placed on the list for that month. I will contact you when it's time to start your drawing. Completion time depends on the size, amount of detail, and how many subjects are being drawn. For example, a 5x7 inch drawing of one face could be drawn in about 2 days. Whereas a 16x20 with 5 faces would take at least 3 weeks. Also note that colored pencil portraits take much longer to draw than graphite portraits.
  • What photo should I submit?
If the photo you submit is a photo that you love, you will certainly love your drawing! Please consider that in order for me to create a detailed drawing, a high quality reference photo is essential. A picture with good lighting, that shows clear facial features, is very helpful since I can only draw what I see in photos. I understand that sometimes high quality photographs are limited or unattainable. In this case, I'm happy to draw a low resolution photo as long as you are aware that the drawing will not be highly detailed. If you are having trouble deciding on a photo, please upload as many photos as you'd like with your order. That way I can give my opinion on which photo will work good to draw from. I'm happy to help!
  • What will be included in my drawing?
Drawings of people and animals will include face, neck, and shoulders on a plain background. If you would like a full body portrait and/or a background (landscape or interiors etc.) additional fees will apply. Let me know through email if you would be interested in these extras and I can give you a quote.
  • What materials do you use?
Only high quality professional materials are used. I use acid free archival paper and lightfast pencils. This is to make sure your artwork lasts for many years to come.
  • Do you draw on paper or canvas?
Your drawing will be created on professional quality flat paper. I do not draw on canvas. However, if you're interested in ordering a cavas print of your drawing after it is complete I would be happy to help with that.
  • Can you combine seperate photos to make a portrait of two or more people/animals?
Yes! If you have two or more individual pictures that you would like combined into one drawing, that is absolutely possible. For each additional subject (person, pet, etc.) 20% of the base price is added. You are able to upload multiple photos when you place an order. I will email you a digital mock-up of what your drawing will look like before I get started on it. Please know that it is not possible for me to make up a pose. For example, I'm not able to draw two people from seperate photos hugging, or make it look like someone is holding a child from a seperate photo.
  • I want something in the photo changed in the portrait, can you do that?"
I can only draw what I see in the photo. However, if there is something minor that needs to be changed I can do that for you. Examples would be fixing hair/fur, eyes, skin, teeth, or making small alterations to what they are wearing. Be sure to let me know if there are any requests in the 'optional comments' section when you upload your photo. Please also know that it is not possible for me to take features from multiple photos to "create" a face.
  • Can I see pictures of my drawing while you're creating it?
Absolutely! If you would like to see photos of your portrait throughout the drawing process just let me know. I am happy to keep you posted with email updates.
  • Does the drawing come framed?
Your drawing will not be framed, but it will be mounted with a mat for protection. Your drawing will arrive ready to be framed. *A 5x7 inch drawing comes with an 8x10 inch mat (fits into an 8x10 frame) *An 8x10 inch drawing comes with an 11x14 inch mat (fits into an 11x14 frame) *An 11x14 inch drawing comes with a 16x20 inch mat (fits into a 16x20 frame) *16x20 inch drawings do not come with a mat If you prefer not to use the mat that comes with your drawing, you can easily take the portrait out of the mount.
  • Will the portrait appear on your website?
It is greatly appreciated when customers allow me to display their portraits on my social media sites and website. I always ask for permission first since some may prefer not to have their portraits online.
  • Do you offer gift certificates?
I do! Gift certificates are great for last minute presents or if you're not able to obtain a photo in time. It also gives the recipient an opportunity to be involved in the process. They are delivered within 3-5 business days. Please check the "order" tab to purchase a gift certificate. Digital gift cards are also available.
