Pacific State Research University Adopts Single Recordkeeper Model
Pacific State RU has officially informed its 12,000 active participants through a formal notice that it will end its multi-vendor retirement plan arrangement. This change will streamline administration by consolidating all 403(b) and 457(b) retirement assets into a single platform. The transition is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2025, aiming to simplify plan management and participant experience.
Why It Matters
This decision aligns with a growing national movement toward simplifying retirement plan administration to help lower plan-level costs. While this consolidation may improve operational efficiency and reduce fees, it also means participants will no longer have the option to select between providers specializing in annuities and those focused on mutual funds, thereby limiting some of the historical choices available within the plan.
